Meet our speaker, Duncan! Duncan Hurd grew up on St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. He received his BA in economics from Denison University, his MBA in international business from New York University, and his PhD in leadership from Florida Atlantic University’s College of Education. Early in his career Duncan worked in retailing, holding multiple leadership positions including District Manager, Director of Operations, and Vice President. He and his wife, Pam, currently own two custom framing and art restoration businesses in Stuart and Port St. Lucie – The Gilt Complex and Modern Edge Frameworks. Duncan has extensive leadership experience with non-profits. He co-founded a consultancy serving the non-profit sector; his primary responsibilities included strategic planning and business operations. He was the Executive Director of the Small Island States Foundation, an NGO based in Nassau, the Bahamas. And for eight years he was Vice-President and then President of the Order of St. John, Inc., a non-profit based in the Virgin Islands whose mission is to serve the sick and the poor. Duncan currently serves as President of The Creek District of Arts & Entertainment , and as Chair of the MartinArts Foundation, both in Stuart.
